TY - ECHAP TI - Énonciation historique et discours rapporté Le cas des autocitations de Chateaubriand DO - 10.15122/isbn.978-2-406-07427-4.p.0157 SN - 978-2-406-07427-4 AB - In history, the use of quotes presupposes a diachronic relationship with the events that are narrated as well as an objectification of the reported speech. It reflects a mediate access to the past. This article analyses the way historians build their relationships with their own past focussing on the case of Chateaubriand’s self-quotations in Mémoires d’outre-tombe. It addresses two issues: the forms taken by self-quotations of private and public documents, and the discursive portrait of the memoirist as an historian of his self.
