AB  - As noted by some critics, La Recherche de l’Absolu could have been the title of Balzac’s other novels or stories. The character’s quest for the Absolute or the quest for the Absolute as the central point of romantic drama proved to be important models of writing for Balzac. The symbolic value that Balzac attributed to the project, which runs from La Peau de Chagrin through Louis Lambert or Le Chef-d’œuvre inconnu up to Gambara and others, is shown in the theory of the figure that Balzac built for the artist and the genius, which runs throughout his entire work. La Recherche de l’Absolu has obviously a special value to the author, a central value that makes itself felt over Balzac’s thought.
