AB  - The translation of the collection Charms helps Rilke to emerge from a serious creative crisis: he will not only complete the Duino Elegies, he will also write the Sonnets to Orpheus. He was led to reflect on the conditions favouring the production and reception of poetry and to appropriate an approach concerned with suspending the completion of a work by suggesting all the possibilities from which it emerges. Translation is the place where Rilke and Valéry discover what separates them but also what attracts them to each other by broadening the horizon of their expectations and conceptions of poetry.
