AB  - A comparative reading of Carco’s and Genet’s works seems appropriate when the similarities between their respective novelistic universes are considered. This contribution would like to highlight the common well of stereotypes from which their stories draw, especially when they evoke the underworld. But it will show that these clichés, motivated by a form of poetic realism, also support the rehabilitation of what then constituted both the social and sexual margins.
