AB  - By the end of the nineteenth century, the first cyclists envisioned the revolution in technology as capable of effecting a transformation in politics. The democratization of travel, which the invention and development of the bicycle had made possible, was thought to be capable of promoting a revolution in politics. Wells, Jerome, Allais, Jarry, Courteline and Capus humorously represented the limits of such a dream by depicting the bicycle as the new-but-already-untrue Wheels of Fortune.
