AB  - This contribution, which focuses on the illustrated Letters from Africa by Henryk Sienkiewicz and, to a lesser extent, on the letters and photos of his travel companion, Jan Tyszkiewicz, aims to understand the figure of Sienkiewicz-traveler and the particularities of his travel writings. It is divided into three parts: the first analyzes the figure of the scientist, the second shows the figure of the adventurer and the third concentrates on the experienced writer who appears through those writings.
