AB  - In The Notion of Expenditure (1947), Bataille introduce a new economy based on loss, as opposed to “the economic principle of balanced accounts […], the only rationale in the narrow sense of the word”. Bataille’s thesis is thus partial : it attempts to bring loss into the heart of economy. Pierre Klossowski, however, in his novel The Living Currency (1970), considers that economy and its rational principles are founded on the superstructures of production, conservation and consumption.
