AB  - This article analyses the ambivalent status of The Accursed Share with respect to ecology. Bataille’s general economics advocates a systematic and energetic perspective which makes it possible to integrate analyses of economic activity within the movement of terrestrial energy. On the other hand, general economics concentrates on the relation between production and consumption and thus seems to ignore the key ecological phenomenon of decomposition, which assures the closure of material ecological loops.
