AB  - This contribution considers the link between poetry and political discourse in the Chanson de Bertrand du Gueschlin by the poet Cuvelier. Following a general examination of epic markers and their relation to narration, this study focuses on the two meetings of the king, Charles V, with the constable. It shows how form is exploited to assist the discourse, and ultimately represent Charles V as a “weak king”, and du Gueschlin as mentor of the monarchy.
