AB  - This article analyses some archaisms and dialectalisms detected (or deduced) in the textual history of a Castilian version of Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Prophetie Merlini inserted in two Spanish chivalric romances: Baladro del sabio Merlín (Burgos, 1498) and the first part of Demanda del sancto Grial (Seville, 1535). It concludes that some features of the text’s vocabulary and morphology may support the idea that the Profecías come from a Galician-Portuguese translation written in the late 13th century.
