AB  - If Manilius’ Astronomica and F. Maternus’ Matheseos libri are among the sources of Pontano’s astrology, this paper focuses on his turning Cicero’s polemics in De divinatione into an apology and examines the humanist’s commentary on pseudo-Ptolemy’s Centiloquium in which the astral influence is considered the source of both natural divination and poetic inspiration. An edition and an Italian translation of Pontano’s Commentaries on ps.-Ptolemy’s Centiloquium I and IV are given in appendix.
