AB  - By comparing the lists drawn up from Montaiglon and Raynaud’s collection to the NRCF, Alain Corbellari can identify constants in criteria – formal, narrative, axiological – that govern the inclusion or exclusion of texts, but also variants that indicate the subjectivity necessarily involved in any attempt to classify short narrative. Behind its apparent search for objectivity in determining the genre of the fabliau, the NRCF is no exception.
