AB  - This article explores brother–sister relationships as they were written about in the nineteenth century, probing the testimonies passed down about these bonds by François-René de Chateaubriand and his sister Lucile as well as by Eugénie and Maurice de Guérin. It scrutinizes the image given of these two women who lived alongside—or rather, in the shadow of—their writer brothers, linked to them by passionate friendship, whose awakening to poetry they accompanied while also trying their hand at writing.
