AB  - This article examines in detail the orders placed with Pontus by the Comédie-Française. It focuses on the production and costs of the stage costumes created for the dancers and actors, as well as their maintenance and repair. It highlights the deadlines given to the tailor, the fabrics used and the rates applied, the different techniques for making the stage dazzle, and the prevailing fashions. It assesses the notion of consumerism in the history of theatre.
