Les émotions en scène (xviie-xxie siècle) JO - European Drama and Performance Studies (ISSN 2045-8541), 17, 2021 – 2 DO - 10.48611/isbn.978-2-406-12207-4.p.0225 SN - 2045-8541 SP - 225 EP - 242 AB - The article explores the cliché that the opera stage is a place of unconventional and violent emotions, of which female performers are the best ambassadors. Three scenarios are explored, concerning the poetics of opera, the engagement of the performer, and the pleasure of the audience, which allow us to identify what feeds this cliché. One can thus grasp the effects, in terms of gender regime, less with regard to emotions on stage as to their perception.
