A utopia goes hand in hand with this recent phenomenon: travel, he claims, promotes the brotherhood of the peoples. Conversely, Sartre sees tourism as a bellicose and invasive practice. In fact, it was after the First World War that it developed, with groups of soldiers visiting attractions in the towns in which they found themselves for military operations.
