AB  - In Les Mots, Sartre acknowledges that he was still engulfed by a “long, bitter-sweet madness” when he wrote L'Être et le Néant. “Fake to the marrow of my bones and hoodwinked,” he still thought he had a vocation that justified his existence. This admission sounds like a warning, an invitation to take a critical look at his phenomenological ontology. L'Être et le Néant indeed bears the stigmata of this “madness,” which reveal a metaphysical choice dictating certain ontological analyses.
