AB  - We propose to examine two historical occurrences of the debate on the automation of the political: the fears of the "governing machine" at the time of the French reception of cybernetics, and the moral panic that followed the first federal administration data center project in the United States. This demonstrates that the question of "AI" and politics inherits essentialist and liberal conceptual frameworks that have already been evaluated during these major polemics.
