AB  - Commentaries on the work of Leonardo Bruni underline its departure from historical truth or its subordination to the interests of the Florentine oligarchy. It is also necessary to consider its politico-ideological function with regard to the public of its city. Beyond its roots in the ancient republican tradition, this work marks the birth of modern republicanism, interested above all in the institutional, participatory and egalitarian forms of democratic societies.
