AB  - The genealogies of modern political thought often trace liberal thought to the English revolutions of the seventeenth century. This volume proposes a step back to examine the contribution of the Italian fifteenth century, marked by the Florentine republican experiences, and the French sixteenth century, marked by the Wars of Religion. Thus reassessed, liberal thought is rooted less in a context that is less economic-social context than anthropological, moral and political.
