Although he wants to avoid time in order to better account for the “magic of space” that transforms images into concepts, Schmitt cannot durably avoid thinking about time, even if he refuses it as such. The analysis of his little book, Hamlet or Hecuba, the Intrusion of the Time into the Play, which apparently does not have much to do with this topic, makes Schmitt’s hesitations and difficulties intelligible.
