AB  - In this article, I study the Demonstratio evangelica, a major apologetic work published in 1679 by the French erudite Pierre-Daniel Huet. I ask why, in this work, Huet, an anti-Cartesian, employs the geometrical method habitually associated with the Cartesian tradition. My analysis aims to show how, in the early modern period, there were erudites for whom the mos geometricus had a radically different meaning from the one the Cartesians gave it.
