AB  - The gestural dimension of animation is seldom taken into account in cinematic research, even though gesture is an ideal gateway to a network of interactions between different elements of the animator’s creative process. We will see through the example of sand animator Gisèle Ansorge that the study of gesture provides insight into the emergence of specific forms and as such, is a heuristic tool for researchers.
