AB  - One finds a discrepancy between the rural and realist dimensions associated with the roman paysan of the nineteenth century to which George Sand is still often reduced and the sentimental, adventurous life of the author. Based on an analysis of the television adaptation of the novel La Ville noire, this study offers a reflection on the variations in the way that this two-part TV film presents Sand’s image and her works in relation to how they have been constructed by French television since its beginning.
