AB  - This article purports to reexamine ‘perlocutory translation’, a notion coined by Annie Brisset for whom translation has an incitative effect upon the audience, the perlocutory nature of which is similar to J. L. Austin’s persuasive speech acts. To what extent can the perlocutory be retraced in the source text and made into a translation agenda? Will the effect be identified as a supplement, a parasitic factor to be grafted onto the target sentence or erased for the greater good?
