AB  - Since the Enlightenment, the transnational circulation of educational literature is an increasing phenomenon in Europe. The article focuses on the case of Stéphanie Félicité de Genlis and the translations of her works in German during the period of 1778 to 1815. The analyses show that the translation can affect not only the paratexts but also the text itself and modifies his public and the ways of reception up to the point that the educational function is no longer visible.
