AB  - La bibliographie de Cendrars se partage entre « beaux livres » et ouvrages de facture plus traditionnelle. Dans les années 1910 et 1920, un désir d’innovation le fait se tourner vers Apollinaire et Gourmont : intervention à toutes les étapes de la création (maquette, typographie), collaboration avec des peintres modernes. En témoignent la Prose du Transsibérien avec Sonia Delaunay et La Fin du monde avec Fernand Léger. Par la suite, Cendrars prendra peu à peu « congé des peintres ».

KW  - Cendrars’s abundant bibliography is divided into “fine books” and more traditionally crafted books. In 1910’s and 1920’s, he shows an innovative desire makes him follow Apollinaire and Gourmont: intervention on each step of the creation, to work on the layout and the typography in collaboration with modern painters. Testify to this: Prose du Transsibérien with Sonia Delaunay and La Fin du monde with Fernand Léger. Afterwards, Cendrars will slowly “take leave of the painters”.
