AB  - Searching for the origins of globalisation, this article focuses on passages in 2001: A Space Odyssey in which questions of the figuration and function of origin stories are deeply interrelated to representations of totality. As this article claims, in creating imaginations of the global and thus showing a vision of the whole world, Kubrick’s film contributes to the “archive of global images, narratives, and myths” (Cosgrove), unearthing the historical dimension of processes of globalisation.
