AB  - This article traces a slow travel trajectory through European and American literatures with a focus on walking, from Romantic and nineteenth-century political writers to contemporary travel writers. It demonstrates the links between these writers’ political gestures and identity construction through slow travel’s discovery of liminal spaces and its potential for resistance, social and political responsibility, eco-awareness, and healing of oneself, others and the planet at large.
