Written in Franco-Italian, these texts (Ystoire de la Passion, Passion de Venise, and Passion by Nicolas de Vérone) retranscribed the Gospel and the Vulgate, based on the Latin, invariably reducing Judas to his function as a traitor. Compared with this stereotyping, the moral figure of Peter is more nuanced, and depends on the version of the Gospel referred to by the poet.
