AB  - The comparison of three tragedies by Tristan reveals the coherence of a thought where ideology and dramaturgy feed each other. Tristan L’Hermite, in the service of Louis XIII’s brother, defines the discursive contours of royal speech to then show how illegitimate figures deviate from them. These tyrannical figures are central insofar as they jeopardize the very functioning of the theater, by pulling action toward the offstage and interrupting dialogue.
