AB  - This article focuses on the presence of Ariosto’s poetry—and more particularly Orlando Furioso—in the poetry and prose works of Tristan L’Hermite. It relates the references to Ariosto to the reception of Orlando Furioso in the early seventeenth century, and it studies the diversity of imitative practices that emerged from it. The article shows that the imitation of Ariosto is a poetic and aesthetic updating rather than an impoverishment of the source text.
