AB  - The pastoral Amarillis is a real hapax in the poet’s dramatic output—a situation that can be explained by the singular circumstances described by the printer. Contrary to his statements, it seems that the play is in fact a rewriting of Rotrou’s comedy La Célimène, which the author, indebted in this respect to the humanist tradition, imbues with a bucolic coloring.
