AB  - This article concerns enargia in Le page disgracié. This novel, perceived as an example of the high style, seems only seldom to resort to the plain style. However, certain sequences present a remarkable enargic range, approaching the descriptive passages found in pastoral and heroic novels, and especially in tragic writing, without this presenting any intent to parody the “grand style” or fashionable novels.
