AB  - Corbière entitled a rondel in Les Amours jaunes “Mirliton”, and very nearly gave the same title to two other poems. He thus seized on this word before Bruant, Mallarmé or Jarry, as a way of introducing the question of the value of art into his work. His “Mirlitons” are knowingly disharmonious, they savour fragmentation, echoes, word play, which the poet elsewhere practices and identifies as ways of achieving truth. Corbière transformed a poem of low quality into a critical and poetic experiment, in the period just before the wider crisis in verse.
