AB  - At the end of his life, Mérimée created a short novella, La Chambre Bleue, in which an act of adultery is almost not consummated. The obstacles encountered by the couple become a vaudevillean comedy, while the subject matter may be reminiscent of the famous adultery brought to justice in Madame Bovary. These are points of convergence, nothing more, which we can only register and which give rise to innuendo in a text that is entirely based on this reading contract: a false… fairytale.
