AB  - The first part of this issue is dedicated to a little-known play by Giraudoux, Supplément au voyage de Cook. This play is examined from various perspectives: historical context, comparative studies, hypotexts, and sensoriality. Significant emphasis is placed on the decisive role of language in this encounter between Western colonizers and the indigenous people of Tahiti. The second part broadens the focus to the play as a whole: how Giraudoux plays with quotations, reflections on its interpretation, the motif of the declaration, and hygienism.
