The French play, based on the mystical theory of the Capetian royal blood showing how the deceased duke is mourned by his subjects without any reference to a precise political identity. The theoretical and aesthetic choices made by the playwriter illustrate the way Drama reflected and reshaped the diverse conceptions of the royal body during the 15th century.
