AB  - To prepare the twelfth edition of the Diccionario de la lengua castellana, the Real Academia Española contacted, among others, external specialists to help review terms pertaining to their areas of knowledge. This article focuses on one of these collaborators, Mariano Carderera, a renowned 19th century Spanish educator, to assess his accepted and discarded contributions in the field of national public education.
