AB  - This article deals with nominal compounding in Modern Greek, in particular, compounds comprising an unattested second element, a lexical black hole. We argue that these elements are unattested due to pragmatic reasons, and we provide an account for the formation and the interpretation of these compounds, as well as the grammatical category and the nature of their constituents.
