AB  - Can we apply the methods and principles of rigorous biographies to fictional characters? How can we combine the freedom involved in working on an imaginary individual and the constraints of authenticity and realism imposed by a narration based on precise historical sources? And above all, what do we gain from this merging of genres? Based on two Proustian examples, this article aims to respond to these different questions.
