AB  - Alfred de Musset is surely not the French poet most influenced by the vogue for Ossian; but that only makes it more interesting to trace how his relationship with him evolved. In La Quittance du diable, he devotes himself to the same fascination with Scotland that wreaks havoc upon his colleagues. But, quite quickly, his tone will turn ironic and provide him with the occasion to distance himself from the Romantic catechism. This will particularly be the case in Frédéric et Bernerette and Dupont et Durand.
