AB  - Endowed with a hearty appetite, Claudel was very keen on good food. His care of the quality of food appears in his correspondance, his poetry and his theater. In his « Éloge du vin » (« in Praise of Wine »), he appreciates its virtues. From L’Endormie to Connaissance de l’Est and through Grandes Odes, Le Pain dur and Le Soulier de Satin, Claudel delights in evoking the joys of taste. But he was nonetheless very mindful of the holy symbolism of bread and wine.
