AB  - The correspondence between Claudel and Suarès testifies of a literary friendship heavy with misunderstandings. Claudel wants to convert Suarès who is thirsty of a god who is not the catholic God. Suarès makes sacred the literature. Therefore they don’t share a common idea of literature: for one, it is at God service, for the other it is a worship object. This difference seals, very rapidly, the failure of the conversion and dictates divergent judgments on the literary life and men of letters.
