AB  - Montaigne's pastiches published between 1832 and 1868 are from a time when this author was not yet included in school curricula. They correspond to different genres: fake letters, an instrument by which an author seriously appropriates the way of the thinker-writer, humorous parodies. This contribution studies the editorial or politico-cultural topicality of these plays and the main processes of imitation, in order to grasp the image of Montaigne and his "honesty" played by the pasticheurs.
