AB  - This study aims to show that Montaigne's definition of nature is not elaborated through a naturalistic antinomy which would oppose nature and society in favor of man. Weakening the nature/culture dualism in favor of a human/non-human continuum of an analogical type, Montaigne deconstructs the theological argument of human exceptionalism; in so doing, he develops a new ethics, based on the naturalization of man and the socialization of nature.
