AB  - The chapter “Des acçens, ou tons des syllabes & dicçions”, in Louis Meigret’s Grammaire française (1550), and in particular the musical illustrations it contains, have not finished disconcerting linguists. By placing the grammarian’s work in the musical practice of the Renaissance, the article attempts to understand how these illustrations could be received by their first readers, which leads to a new, rhythmic reading of Meigret’s “melodies”.
