AB  - This article shows how Meigret is able to construct a description of the French language from pre-existing descriptions of Latin, without being constrained by this model to which most of his contemporaries are subjected, very often unconsciously. Thus, while Meigret was inspired by a prestigious model, that of Priscien for Latin, he was particularly adept at adapting it to the data of a language, certainly descended from the former, but nevertheless very different.
