In the sixteenth century, the reform of justice, and in particular the drafting and homologation of customs, inspired an awareness of the linguistic diversity of the kingdom and the process to be followed to accommodate it. In the context of this centralization of power in France we examine the relationship between custom, usage and reason in Louis Meigret's grammar.
