Abstract: This essay examines the recognition of Dany Laferrière, manifested through his “titles”, understood in the double meaning of the word: the provocative titles of his novels, and the title of Académicien, conferred to him in 2013. Through this double process of recognition, a similar eccentric posture is revealed, the limits of which this essay interrogates. In particular, the metaliterary discourse on celebrity signals what can be seen as an anxiety of authorship concerning literary excellence.
